A$AP Rocky reveals name of son with Rihanna on baby’s 1st birthday

After nearly a year since his birth, Rihanna’s baby name has finally been revealed: RZA. The child, born to Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, had been referred to as “Baby” until recently when PEOPLE obtained his birth certificate. RZA is pronounced as “Riz-za” and pays homage to the famous Wu-Tang Clan member of the same name. The baby’s middle name is Athelston, like his father’s, and he shares his dad’s last name, Mayers.

Interestingly, Rihanna may have been hinting at her baby’s name all along through the Wu-Tang and RZA shirts she has been seen wearing over the past year. Baby RZA was born in May 2022, but the couple kept him away from the public eye until Rihanna shared an adorable video of him laughing on TikTok in December. Since then, the baby has made appearances on Rihanna’s Instagram account, including a cute Easter photo set and a stylish baby Fendi outfit.

In an interview with British Vogue, Rihanna described motherhood as “legendary” and mentioned that it’s hard to remember life before her baby. She also discussed her desire to share glimpses of her son on her terms and not because of paparazzi pressure.
