According to an exclusive source in the latest edition of Us Weekly, Britney, aged 42, initially attempted to extend an olive branch by apologizing to Timberlake, aged 43, for her unflattering portrayal of him in her memoir, “The Woman in Me,” in an effort to take the higher road.
In January, Spears utilized Instagram to express regret for certain aspects of her memoir, stating, “I apologize for some of the things I wrote about,” and adding, “If I caused offense to any individuals whom I truly value, I sincerely apologize.”
However, following Timberlake’s apparent indirect criticism of the “Toxic” singer during a live performance, the source reveals that Spears was greatly disappointed by his actions, stating, “Sure, he didn’t mention her by name, but it was clear to everyone who he was referring to.”
At a January performance in New York City, Timberlake appeared to ridicule Spears’ earlier apology in his address to the audience.
