Kahleah Copper Supports Angel Reese After Tough Night in 3X3 League.
Phoenix Mercury’s Kahleah Copper is guiding Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese as they join forces in Unrivaled’s debut season.

The Rose BC team kicked off their Unrivaled journey, a new 3-on-3 league co-founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, with a tough 0-2 start, most recently losing 79-70 to Lunar Owls BC on Jan. 18, according to Sports Illustrated. Reese scored 12 points, hitting 5 of 10 shots from the field, but struggled with missed close-range shots—a challenge she faced during her rookie season with the WNBA’s Chicago Sky.
As Copper and Reese team up for Rose BC in Unrivaled’s inaugural season, Copper, a WNBA player for the Phoenix Mercury, stepped in to offer her rookie teammate some valuable advice.
“The night before, she had a tough finishing night,” Copper shared on NBC Sports‘ On Her Turf. “I know how that feels because I play heavy at the rim. So coming off a heavy finishing night, it’s like ‘I need to work on my finishes.’
Rose BC has played two games so far in Unrivaled, a league that provides players with an offseason alternative to playing overseas. The nine-week league, which started on Jan. 17, is being held entirely in Miami.
After a tough start, sports analysts are excited to see how Reese’s finishing skills improve under Copper’s guidance.
“It’s all about building a routine,” Copper said about Reese. “I keep telling her, ‘We’ve got to work on your finishes after practice every day.’ What people don’t realize is that small daily efforts really add up. We’re focused on that consistently and staying mentally tough—it’s not easy.”
Copper added, “I’m guiding her through it and helping her see that she’s not alone. I’ve been there too. When you look at a player who’s been through it, achieved the things you aspire to, and accomplished the goals you have, you can trust that experience.”
