Global State of Relief Fund Lifts Up Black Women in Need.

Black women are being hit especially hard by the current unemployment crisis in the U.S.
Black women facing financial hardship may soon get help through emergency cash assistance from The Global State of Relief Fund. Sponsored by Teknique Cares, a nonprofit dedicated to beauty and wellness, this one-time grant is designed to support Black women in financial need.
Applicants may receive between $500 and $1,500 to help cover everyday expenses. The fund prioritizes Black women who are unemployed and serving as caregivers, single mothers, or working in industries recently hit by high layoff rates. According to Visual Capitalist, the most affected sectors include government, retail, and tech.

“We can’t wait for systems to solve this—we’re acting now,” the organization states on its website.
To help reach more Black women, the group is accepting donations, and job seekers can join its free Patreon community for peer support and career guidance.
A recent Bureau of Labor Statistics report shows Black women’s unemployment rate at 6%—double that of white women. Earlier this year, policies under the Trump administration triggered massive federal job cuts, disproportionately impacting Black women, with nearly 300,000 losing their jobs since May 2025.
“The federal layoffs—where Black workers are more represented—along with the effects of tariffs on small businesses that employ Black women, and the growing use of ‘DEI’ as a negative term, which may be discouraging the hiring of Black women, are all likely factors,” Andre Perry, senior fellow and director of the Center for Community Uplift at the Brookings Institution, told Bloomberg News.
