Emma Stone Takes Best Actress Oscar in ‘Broken’ Gown, Jokes: “No Peeking at the Back!”
Emma Stone didn’t allow a wardrobe mishap to hinder her victory at the Oscars.

“Oh dear, my dress seems to have a malfunction,” remarked the 35-year-old actress as she accepted the Best Actress award for her portrayal of Bella Baxter in “Poor Things” on Sunday, March 10th. “I believe it occurred during ‘I’m Just Ken,'” Stone humorously added, referencing Ryan Gosling’s earlier performance in the evening, where she took the microphone from him and sang along to the lyrics.
Dressed by Petra Flannery, Stone donned a unique Louis Vuitton peplum gown with a strapless neckline and a snug skirt. Upon rising to accept the award, it seemed that the zipper of the custom-made outfit was undone, revealing torn fabric. Stone hastily held onto the back of the dress as she hurried to the stage to deliver her heartfelt speech.

Acknowledging the wardrobe mishap, Stone also conveyed her thanks and heartfelt appreciation for being nominated for the prestigious award.
This is truly overwhelming. My voice is a bit strained, but whatever. To the remarkable women in this category – Sandra, Annette, Carey, Lily – you’re all extraordinary. I share this moment with each of you,” Stone expressed towards her fellow nominees. “I am deeply honored to stand here, sharing this recognition with every member of the cast, with every individual who poured their heart into the creation of this film. Thank you for granting me the role of a lifetime in Bella Baxter. I must express my gratitude to my family… to my husband, Dave, I adore you endlessly – and above all, to my daughter, who turns 3 in three days. Please, don’t peek at the back of my dress.”
Before her own victory, Stone enthusiastically supported the beauty team of “Poor Things” as they claimed the trophy for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
In a video posted on Instagram, the actress was spotted conversing in the lobby when she learned of the film’s win. Swiftly, she dashed through a crowd to witness Nadia Stacey, Mark Coulier, and Josh Weston express their gratitude to the Academy.
