Lizzo recognized and celebrated for her efforts in advancing social justice, awarded the Elevate Prize Catalyst Award .

The global superstar was honored in Miami at The Elevate Prize Foundation’s first Make Good Famous Summit, where she received the prestigious award.


According to a news release, Lizzo, the Grammy-winning singer, was presented with the Elevate Prize Catalyst Award on May 18, in acknowledgment of her unwavering dedication to social justice. The Elevate Prize, as mentioned in the news release, aims to support emerging activists and social entrepreneurs by providing them with resources to amplify the impact of their work. Lizzo accepted the award during The Elevate Prize Foundation’s inaugural Make Good Famous Summit held in Miami, where influential figures from media, philanthropy, and social impact spheres converged over a two-day event to foster meaningful discussions on innovative ways to ignite transformative change within society.

Lizzo was recognized and celebrated for her impactful endeavors in promoting gender positivity and harnessing her influential platform to inspire social action. Her remarkable efforts align perfectly with this year’s summit theme of “Reimagining Culture to Power Change.”

In a recent event, the singer extended a special invitation to a group of drag queens, including notable participants from “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” to join her onstage during her concert in Knoxville, Tennessee, last month. This powerful gesture served as a response to state legislation aimed at limiting public drag performances.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Lizzo addressed the crowd, asking, “Why wouldn’t I create a safe environment in Tennessee where we can embrace drag entertainers and celebrate our unique identities?”

As reported by USA Today, Lizzo’s performance at Thompson-Boling Arena featured special appearances by renowned drag artists Aquaria, Kandy Muse, Asia O’Hara, and Vanessa Vanjie. Lizzo later shared a video from the show on her Instagram account.

In a statement, Carolina García Jayaram, the CEO of The Elevate Prize Foundation, expressed that Lizzo exemplifies selflessness by utilizing her voice and platform to amplify the voices of others globally, empowering her fanbase to drive meaningful action.

As a recipient of the Elevate Prize Catalyst Award, Lizzo will be granted significant support, including $250,000 in unrestricted funding, along with valuable developmental resources and opportunities for partnerships.

Reflecting on her journey, Lizzo shared, “When I made the decision to focus on creating positive music, my ultimate goal was always to have the means to bring about real and positive change in the world.”

Malala Yousafzai, recognized for her remarkable contributions through the Malala Fund, was previously honored with The Elevate Prize Catalyst Award. The news release also highlights other notable recipients, including Amal and George Clooney for their endeavors with The Clooney Foundation for Justice, as well as Trevor Noah for his influential work through The Trevor Noah Foundation.

Lizzo, expressing her commitment to making a difference, shared her pledge to dedicate the entire prize to her 4th annual Juneteenth giveback initiative. This initiative aims to support grassroots Black organizations that actively contribute to their communities and neighborhoods.
