Detroit woman sought safety, but her ex found her first.
Detroit Police have arrested Mario Green, the ex-husband accused of fatally shooting Latricia Green.

Detroit Police confirmed on Aug. 23 that Mario Green was arrested for the Henry Ford Hospital shooting. Chief Todd Bettison condemned him as a ‘monster.
Chief Bettison praised the efforts of police and the community: “Our officers worked tirelessly to capture this monster. I thank our partners and residents for their tips. No one deserves what happened to Ms. Latricia Green—my heart goes out to her family.
On Aug. 22, Mario Green entered the hospital under the pretense of returning his ex-wife’s belongings, then fatally shot Latricia Green at her workplace. Witnesses said she told him to leave, but after a brief argument, he pulled out a gun and opened fire.
Latricia Green’s family is still struggling to process her tragic death. Her cousin, Deantjuan Jones, told ABC 7, “When you see his picture, it’s like, ‘I know him.’ And to think it happened at the place where she worked… She was such a sweet person; she didn’t deserve this.”
Despite Chief Bettison’s praise of the department, records show police denied Green’s request for a protective order in June—even after she reported her ex-husband repeatedly called her job, threatened her coworkers, and even tried to enter her office without permission.
On July 20, she filed again, pleading, “I have tried being cordial because the system has let me down each time… My father was murdered, and now I’m in mental distress and scared, not knowing what to do.” She added, “I constantly look over my shoulder, making sure this man isn’t following me. I am asking for help before this goes too far.”
Her request was eventually granted, but as she had warned, it was too late—the order was never served before her ex-husband killed her.
According to her cousin, Rodney Hickman, his behavior had escalated as recently as last week.
“As early as last week, a friend told me he followed her home from work and ran her off the road, so she made another police report. We’re not sitting here gonna point the finger, but at the same time, she was a woman crying out for help.”
Henry Ford Hospital also released its own statement about the shooting death of its employee, noting that the police considered it an act of targeted domestic violence.
“At Henry Ford Health, we are family. We are devastated by the loss of our Henry Ford Hospital teammate, and our hearts go out to her loved ones—her family, friends, and the people she worked with every day. Police have confirmed this was a targeted act of domestic violence. At this time, all questions regarding what occurred should be directed to the Detroit Police Department. We are cooperating with their investigation and are conducting our own internal investigation as well.”
The hospital continued, “We understand this tragedy is wide-reaching, and we recognize and sympathize with the pain this has caused. We are providing resources to our team members who are dealing with the impacts of this tragic incident. The safety and well-being of our patients, visitors, and team members is our greatest priority.”
