Sean Combs, the renowned music producer and artist, is facing a federal lawsuit in New York City filed by his former girlfriend, Casandra Ventura, also known as R&B singer Cassie. In the lawsuit, Ventura alleges that she was raped and subjected to years of physical and other forms of abuse by Combs.

In a statement provided to CNN, Ventura expressed her determination to break her silence and shed light on her ordeal. She stated, “After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story, and to speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships.” Ventura highlighted the urgency of her decision, citing the approaching expiration of New York’s Adult Survivors Act as a motivating factor. She emphasized the need to address the trauma she has endured, which she anticipates will affect her for the rest of her life.

Combs, aged 54, who has operated under stage names like Puff Daddy and Diddy, strongly denies the allegations. His attorney, Ben Brafman, issued a statement via Combs’ publicist, asserting, “Mr. Combs vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations.” Brafman further explained that Ventura had been persistently demanding $30 million from Combs over the past six months, threatening to write a damaging book about their relationship. This demand was unequivocally rejected as blatant blackmail. Despite withdrawing her initial threat, Ventura has now resorted to filing a lawsuit containing what Combs’ legal team deems baseless and outrageous lies, with the aim of tarnishing Combs’ reputation and seeking financial gain.

Sean Combs, a music industry heavyweight, founded the record label Bad Boy in 1993 and has played a pivotal role in the growth of the hip-hop genre. Over the course of his career, he has won three Grammy Awards and received 14 Grammy nominations. Some of his most iconic songs include “I’ll Be Missing You,” featured on the 1997 album “No Way Out,” as well as hits like “It’s All About the Benjamins” and “Bad Boy for Life.” Beyond his music career, Combs has achieved recognition as a prominent producer and entrepreneur.

Casandra Ventura, aged 37, is primarily known for her R&B music career. Her breakthrough single, “Me & U,” was featured on her 2006 self-titled debut album, “Cassie,” which was released while she was signed to Combs’ Bad Boy label. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with artists such as Lil Wayne and Akon, and in 2009, she released the single “Must Be Love,” featuring Sean Combs.

The alleged relationship between Combs and Ventura reportedly spanned from 2005 to 2019.
