Louis Vuitton appoints iconic makeup artist Pat McGrath as Creative Director for its first-ever cosmetics collection.
Iconic makeup artist Pat McGrath has been named Creative Director for Louis Vuitton’s debut makeup collection.
Louis Vuitton has enlisted renowned makeup artist Pat McGrath to head its inaugural makeup brand.
McGrath, named “the most influential makeup artist in the world” by Vogue, will serve as the Creative Director for La Beauté Louis Vuitton, the luxury brand’s official makeup line, set to debut this fall. This collaboration marks the peak of LV and McGrath’s long-standing partnership, where she has styled the faces of LV models for several runway shows.
“It’s truly an honor, and I’m beyond excited,” McGrath shared with WWD. “At Vuitton, beauty embodies the same ethos: design that is carefully crafted and purposefully executed.”
“For me, Vuitton represents luxury in motion — constantly evolving, always advancing, and beauty follows that same philosophy,” she continued. “It’s a personal journey of discovery, designed to move with you in your everyday life.”
The makeup collection offers lipsticks, balms, and eyeshadows that are perfect for any storyteller. With 55 lipstick shades, the brand’s “LV” initials are symbolized as Roman numerals, representing the number 55. Reflecting LV’s legacy as a luxury luggage brand, the makeup line features shades and ingredients, each telling its own distinctive story.
“We dedicated time to creating exceptional ranges and innovative formulas,” explained Louis Vuitton chairman and CEO Pietro Beccari. “Our goal is to introduce something truly groundbreaking in terms of performance, longevity, and color.”
McGrath’s role as Creative Director for LV’s makeup launch marks the peak of her long-time partnership with the iconic brand. Since 2014, she has crafted makeup looks for Nicolas Ghesquière, the brand’s artistic director for women’s collections. More recently, she has collaborated with Pharrell Williams, who became the men’s creative director in 2023.
Now, McGrath will lead the brand’s “very refined, very elevated” makeup debut.
