Miley Cyrus’s Controversial Confession: Why She’s Torn About Embracing Motherhood.

Miley Cyrus has had a remarkable year, clinching her first Grammy win in February for “Flowers,” which won Record of the Year. Despite her extensive experience in the industry spanning over a decade since her days as a child star, Cyrus is now reflecting on the changes that have come with entering her early 30s and contemplating her future. In a cover story for W Magazine in June 2024, the former Hannah Montana actress spoke candidly about the newfound clarity she’s gained in this phase of her life. She expressed her love for adulthood and how her perspective has evolved over time, emphasizing a rule she lives by: to neither look up nor down at anyone, but simply to observe, allowing her to see the world and people for who they truly are. Cyrus also opened up about her uncertainty regarding parenthood, indicating she’s on the fence about having children. Reflecting on her journey, she shared a daily affirmation she practices, acknowledging herself as a woman.

As Miley Cyrus matures, she finds herself gaining greater clarity, yet she remains uncertain about her future family plans. Despite being 31 years old, the “Jaded” singer confessed that she’s still unsure whether she wants children or not. She drew parallels between her fans and a maternal role, expressing a sentiment echoed by Dolly Parton, who also didn’t have children and referred to her fans in a similar light.

In fact, she already identifies with the role of “mother” when it comes to her fans. “The word ‘mother’ is incredibly broad,” she expressed during the interview. “A mother figure can be RuPaul; it can be Beyoncé. Our fans refer to us as ‘mother.'”

On the topic of mothers, Cyrus also shared insights into her bond with Tish Cyrus, acknowledging that having a stage mom was a shared experience she and Beyoncé connected over.3.5

“We often exchange texts about our relationships with our mothers,” she revealed. “Similar to Beyoncé’s mother, Ms. Tina, my own mother is also affectionately known as ‘M.T.’: Mama Tish. Many people refer to her as ‘Mom,’ just as Ms. Tina is not only a mother figure to Beyoncé but also to her fans.”

Expanding on their shared experiences, she added, “Both of us were raised by mothers who fulfilled every role imaginable. My mom handled everything from makeup and hair to sewing and styling, even acting as tour manager—she was basically the entire management team.”
