“me too.” International, the anti-sexual violence organization co-founded by Tarana Burke, has launched a new Disruptors Council made up of influential advocates dedicated to confronting the ongoing crisis of sexual violence.

The council includes notable figures such as Viola Davis, Gabrielle Union, and Representative Ayanna Pressley. Together, they aim to challenge and dismantle the systems that silence survivors and perpetuate harm.

The council will elevate the mission and initiatives of “me too.” as it continues advocating for survivors of sexual assault and harassment. Their efforts will spotlight policy advancements and drive cultural change toward a safer, more equitable world—challenging harmful gender norms and dismantling oppressive systems.

“We’re at a turning point. Recent high-profile cases have once again shown how widespread sexual violence remains,” Burke said in a press release. “The Disruptors Council embodies our core belief — that meaningful change happens when we unite to confront the systems enabling sexual violence, rather than only reacting to its aftermath. We can end sexual violence by making this conversation part of mainstream culture and viewing prevention as a collective duty.”

The council also includes Cliff Albright, co-founder and executive director of the Black Voters Matter Fund; actress Michelle Buteau; and media figures Bevy Smith and Jessie Woo.

“I raise my hand as a survivor and the daughter of a survivor,” said Davis. “I raise my hand to be seen—to end the silence and invisibility surrounding sexual assault, to dismantle stigma and shame, and to reclaim our worth. I’m proud to be a disruptor.”

Union added, “I speak up because change begins when we use our voices and take a stand for what’s right. I disrupt by challenging the status quo to create opportunity, empathy, and progress for everyone.”

With the launch of the Disruptors Council, “me too.” aims to further its mission of justice for survivors and inspire collective action against sexual violence.
