Wendy Williams ditched the wheelchair and rocked a minidress at NYFW.

Wendy Williams made an appearance at New York Fashion Week despite her ongoing guardianship case and health challenges.

The former talk show host, 61, left her wheelchair behind—having been seen in it recently—and posed with Bach Mai at the designer’s Spring 2026 runway show while mingling with fellow fashion lovers in the front row.

For the occasion, she wore a chic black minidress cinched with a Gucci statement belt, paired with Chanel combat boots. She completed the look with loose beach waves and a bold red lip that added a vibrant pop of color to her glamorous style.

Her appearance marked a rare public outing as she continues to fight for her independence in an ongoing conservatorship case.

For more than three years, Williams has been under a court-ordered guardianship overseeing both her finances and health.

The following Monday, she was also spotted at Dennis Basso’s fashion show, joined by Max Tucci, her niece Alex Finnie, and Finnie’s fiancé Eric Houston, according to Page Six.

In May 2022, a court appointed Williams a guardian after Wells Fargo froze her accounts, citing concerns of financial exploitation and alleging she was of “unsound mind,” court filings revealed.

Since then, the former daytime TV star has resided in a luxury assisted-living facility in New York under the court-ordered guardianship.

In 2023, Williams was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, though she maintains that she is not incapacitated.

Earlier this year, under the counsel of attorney Sabrina Morrissey, she challenged the diagnosis and petitioned to end her guardianship. She has repeatedly compared the arrangement to imprisonment and was even photographed holding handwritten “help” signs from her window.

Her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, became involved by filing a $250 million lawsuit after Williams submitted an affidavit, alleging that she has been abused and that her guardian should be replaced.

This year, Williams also underwent a comprehensive medical evaluation that included numerous medical and neuropsychological tests, along with brain imaging. The results were delivered shortly before her New York Fashion Week appearance.

According to legal documents obtained by People on Tuesday, results from Williams’ recent medical evaluation — which included extensive medical and neuropsychological testing as well as brain imaging — led doctors to issue an opinion about her neurological condition and diagnosis.

Although the paperwork does not specify her condition, sources alleged the exams confirmed frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and aphasia. Williams, however, pushed back against the claims, stating that her attorneys were “highly upset” over the recent coverage of her health.

In newly filed documents, an attorney for Morrissey asked the court to extend the guardianship for another three months, with a proposed end date of November 5. The attorney also acknowledged that “complications have arisen,” citing plans by various parties — including counsel for certain family members, her ex-husband, and others — to challenge both the guardianship and Morrissey’s role as guardian.

Meanwhile, a source told Page Six that Williams has considered launching a speaking tour to raise awareness about guardianship protections and has no plans to return to television.
