Charlotte-Based Rideshare Company Puts Women’s Safety First.

Just Her Rideshare requires drivers to pass a background check and driving record review to complete the application process successfully.
A rideshare company in Charlotte, North Carolina, is ensuring safe travel for women passengers and drivers throughout the Carolinas.
Just Her Rideshare, founded by Kimberly Evans, was born out of a traumatic experience in 1987 when a friend was abducted while waiting for a ride. Evans, disturbed by similar incidents as rideshare apps gained popularity, decided to create a safer alternative.
In 2020, Evans launched Just Her Rideshare, a company with an all-women driver team, centered around providing “worry-free” transportation.
“Our mission is to offer safe rideshare services for women drivers and riders,” states Just Her Rideshare on its website. “By building a community based on trust and support, we aim to create an environment where women can travel confidently, and drivers can succeed while making a positive impact.”
To uphold the founder’s vision, drivers must pass a background and driving record check. Applicants must be 21 or older, with a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and up-to-date vehicle registration. Vehicles must have four doors and five seatbelts to operate. Riders can specify preferences such as car temperature, music genre, or silence in the app’s notes section and even schedule rides in advance.
With more than 2,000 drivers across seven cities, the company prioritizes the safety of its drivers, who can choose to decline riders who do not identify as female. Drivers currently operate in Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro, Durham, Charleston, Columbia, and Greenville, South Carolina. Evans plans to expand into Washington, D.C., and nearby areas in the coming months.
