Court Allows Lifetime Documentary to Air; Wendy Williams Releases Statement of Thanks.

Wendy Williams has expressed her appreciation for the support and well-wishes from her fans following the disclosure of her dementia diagnosis. Her statement precedes the broadcast of a Lifetime documentary focusing on her health challenges.

In a message relayed through a spokesperson for her care team to The Associated Press, Williams conveyed her profound gratitude for the outpouring of love and kind sentiments she has received since revealing her diagnosis of Aphasia and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). “I am truly amazed by the overwhelming response,” she remarked. “The messages I’ve received have deeply touched me, serving as a poignant reminder of the strength found in solidarity and the importance of empathy.”

The 59-year-old has received a diagnosis of primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.

This development comes after a New York judge’s decision to allow the airing of Lifetime’s documentary “Where is Wendy Williams?” as originally scheduled this weekend. The documentary features footage of the former talk show host as well as interviews.

In her statement on Friday, Williams expressed her ongoing need for personal space and tranquility to thrive. “Please understand that your positivity and support mean a great deal to me,” she emphasized.

She acknowledged the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, which shares the same form of dementia that Bruce Willis has.

Frontotemporal dementia is a rare condition that impacts areas of the brain responsible for behavior and language. Individuals with this type of FTD may experience difficulties with speech comprehension and expression, struggling to find words.

Due to her health concerns, Wendy Williams’ eponymous daytime talk show concluded in 2022. Sherri Shepherd, who had stepped in as a guest host during Williams’ absence, went on to secure her own show.
