Naomi Campbell is banned from the Met Gala after 21 appearances, following a feud with Anna Wintour.

Naomi Campbell has reportedly been banned from the Met Gala due to her ongoing feud with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. The 54-year-old supermodel may have made a big mistake last September when she criticized Anna, 75, during an industry event. Now, it seems Naomi might regret her words as Anna has the power to keep the 66-time cover star from fashion’s biggest night.

The Met Gala will be held on the first Monday in May at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, with this year’s theme being Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

A source told The Sun: “Naomi really messed up with that comment. You can’t throw shade at the queen of fashion and still expect to walk her red carpet. Anna doesn’t forget—or forgive. If she wants you out, you’re out. Simple as that.”

“Naomi has been a fixture at the Met Gala for decades, so her absence from the guest list hasn’t gone unnoticed. People are talking—this is Anna’s way of reminding everyone who’s in charge.”

Though left off the guest list, Naomi recently tried to explain her absence, claiming she felt “too old” to attend the event.

In a YouTube video last week, she said about the 2024 gala, “It’s my last. I can’t… I’m too old. It’s too much for me, the anxiety. I think this might be either 20 or 21—can you imagine?”

Naomi and Anna’s tension first sparked last September at Harlem’s Fashion Row during New York Fashion Week. Naomi’s notorious lateness caused a stir, and Anna addressed the audience, saying, “I’m a very punctual person, and I have the honor of presenting tonight to someone who is often late.”

True to form, Naomi arrived so late that Anna left. The Fashion Icon Award was then presented to Naomi by Harper’s Bazaar editor-in-chief Samira Nasr, and as Naomi accepted the award, she shocked the crowd.

The runway star remarked, “It wasn’t my choice to have the other lady, I’d much rather have this one.” Her words left the crowd gasping.

Naomi has graced the cover of Vogue 66 times under Anna Wintour, becoming the magazine’s first Black cover star in 1989.

This year, Anna’s Met Gala co-chairs include Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and LeBron James.

MailOnline has reached out to Naomi’s representatives for comment.

Meanwhile, Naomi seems to be enjoying a well-earned break, sharing rare moments with her two children as they soaked up the sun in the Maldives.

Last month, the supermodel posted a series of photos from her stay at the One&Only Reethi Rah beach resort. Naomi flaunted her stunning figure in a pale yellow bikini, striking a pose for a sunset boat photo before heading out for some snorkeling.

In another heartwarming snap, the mother-of-two cuddled her three-year-old daughter while gazing at the sunset, later joined by her 22-month-old son as they dressed up for dinner.

Naomi was also accompanied by her friends, film producer Mohammed Al Turki and model Natasha Poly.

The trio has been close for years, with Mohammed sharing a photo with Naomi on his Instagram back in 2021. They’ve been regulars at each other’s side at various events, including the BAFTA Awards, Cannes Film Festival, Paris Fashion Week in both 2022 and 2023, and several exclusive parties like Edward Enninful’s birthday celebration.

She captioned one of her posts: “Family time #blessed❤️❤️ you never disappoint @ooreethirah.”

The vacation photos come after Naomi confirmed last year that she welcomed both of her children via surrogate. She became a mother for the first time in 2021 at the age of 50, posing with her newborn on the cover of Vogue.

The supermodel surprised the world with the birth of her daughter, followed by her son in 2023, though she has kept their names private.

Naomi previously clarified that her daughter wasn’t adopted, but she hadn’t been pregnant herself, emphasizing how deeply her children mean to her.

Speaking to The Times, she said, “My babies are everything to me. It’s made me fear for the future.”

Naomi also explained that she never sought a father for her children, expressing contentment with being “a single mother of a single mum.”

When asked about using a surrogate, she replied, “I did. I hope for a better world for my children. They are 110 per cent my priority. I have to be there for them on their first day at school.”
