Patti LaBelle and Cardi B Join Forces for a Festive Holiday Season

By Extra-Ordinary Women

In a delightful musical collaboration that feels as harmonious as the pairing of sweet potato pie and whipped cream, Cardi B and Patti LaBelle have come together to celebrate the joy of the holiday season. Their sweet partnership revolves around the fusion of their respective dessert products: Cardi’s Whipshots alcoholic whipped cream and Patti’s Good Life pies.

While this dynamic duo hadn’t crossed paths before their delightful partnership, Patti LaBelle shared how she had always sensed a unique connection with the “Bodak Yellow” rapper. She expressed, “I’ve been her mother in my mind for a long time because she’s just all that and a bag of chips. And I’m all that and a bag of chips.” At 79 years old, LaBelle’s admiration for the 31-year-old Cardi was both endearing and mutual.

Cardi B, in agreement, acknowledged that their collaboration felt long overdue but admitted to feeling nervous about meeting the R&B legend. “I feel like I’m not worthy; I just feel so shook!” Cardi exclaimed, with LaBelle playfully shaking her head beside her. “I’m super starstruck. I’m on my best behavior.”

With a mischievous grin, LaBelle responded, “Oh, don’t be on your best behavior with me because I’m really bad.”

Cardi, not one to back down from a playful exchange, teased, “Miss Patti, I will be doing splits on these tables.”

Beyond LaBelle’s illustrious music career, Cardi was equally impressed by her culinary empire, Patti’s Good Life. LaBelle’s prepared food line boasts a variety of fresh and frozen items, including macaroni and cheese, banana pudding, and, of course, her famous pies. Having been in operation for 15 years, Patti’s Good Life generated an impressive $200 million in revenue last year, according to Forbes.

“I got to take inspiration from you,” Cardi admitted, referring to her own food line, Whipshots. Introduced nearly two years ago, Whipshots offers boozy whipped cream in flavors like pumpkin spice, peppermint, vanilla, mocha, and caramel, all boasting a 10% ABV.

The two musical icons are now teaming up with their food brands to infuse the holiday spirit into a captivating social campaign, debuting on November 9.

The teaser for the campaign employs a sitcom-style approach, depicting LaBelle warmly welcoming Cardi into her home. With cheerful music playing in the background, the video showcases quick cuts of the two hugging, toasting with glasses of wine, sharing laughter, and indulging in pie adorned with whipped cream, naturally.

“We’re going to try your Whipshots with my Patti pie,” LaBelle announced, as Cardi confidently chimed in with her preference for pumpkin-flavored whipped cream. However, LaBelle seemed unsure and asked, “Pumpkin for sweet potato?”

Cardi remained steadfast in her choice, asserting that the products “make love together.” She reassured LaBelle, saying, “You gotta trust me on this one,” to which LaBelle responded, “I trust you, boo!”

Their facial expressions as they took their first bite of pie and topping spoke volumes. “I knew it!” Cardi exclaimed, while LaBelle couldn’t help but express her delight. “That sweet potato pie tastes like a hug,” Cardi added before the two embraced.

For fans eager to recreate this heartwarming holiday magic, both Whipshots and Patti’s Good Life pies are available for purchase at Walmart. This partnership is not only a celebration of their musical and culinary talents but also a testament to the joy of coming together during the festive season.
