Taraji P. Henson Shuts Down Oprah Feud Rumors.

Taraji P. Henson dismisses feud rumors with Oprah, calling the ongoing slander “disrespectful.”

Henson, currently promoting her new movie Straw, set the record straight during an interview with The Breakfast Club. She took the opportunity to praise Oprah Winfrey, clarifying that they are still in touch and she has nothing but positive feelings toward the media mogul. Henson believes the feud rumors were a deliberate attempt to drive a wedge between them.

“Me and Oprah, I just have a love and a fondness for her,” Henson shared. “She texted me the other day, congratulating me on a job well done in Straw. That rumor was completely fictitious, aimed at causing division between us.”

Henson believes the rumor was also designed to undermine The Color Purple, a film with an all-Black cast.

“I think it was part of a campaign to prevent this Black movie from succeeding,” she explained.

During the press tour for The Color Purple, reports surfaced of a rift between Henson and Oprah. Henson portrayed the iconic role of “Shug Avery” in the film, which was produced by Oprah and Tyler Perry.

During the interview, Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God brought up the rumored tension while talking about pay disparity.

“A lot of people thought you were going after Tyler and Oprah when you spoke out about pay,” he remarked.

Henson quickly shut down the suggestion. As a long-time advocate for mental health through her Boris Lawrence Henderson Foundation, she emphasized her dedication to supporting others. She made it clear that tearing down another woman is simply not part of her character.

“When have you ever seen me drag another woman, especially a Black woman? I’m 10 toes down for us,” Henson stated.

Oprah has also refuted the rumors of a feud with the Acrimony star.

“There’s no truth to the claims about Taraji and me,” Winfrey told Entertainment Tonight. “Taraji will tell you herself that I’ve been the biggest supporter of this film, backing not just the behind-the-scenes efforts but everything everyone needed.”

With the rumors cleared up, Henson can now focus on promoting her new film, Straw, a Tyler Perry-produced drama available on Netflix.
