“I’ve always harbored dreams of becoming an engineer because my lifelong passion has been centered around construction,” Alena shared during an interview with “Gold Morning America” as she discussed her ambitious aspiration to one day join NASA, the renowned National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

“Her constant refrain was, ‘Mommy, I’m going to work for NASA one day. And then it evolved into, ‘I’m going to be the youngest Black girl to ever work for NASA,’” her mother, Daphne McQuarter, reminisced.
