Rihanna’s $2,900 Super Bowl Jumpsuit Sells Out in Just 24 Hours!
Following the announcement of her second pregnancy while wearing a stunning red Loewe jumpsuit, Rihanna’s fashion statement continues to capture attention and gain popularity.
Following Rihanna’s highly talked-about Super Bowl halftime performance in February, during which she unveiled her second pregnancy while delivering a career-spanning medley of her top hits in a vibrant red utility jumpsuit, the internet was flooded with attempts to replicate her iconic look.
Individuals from all corners of the globe fashioned their interpretations of the fashion and beauty magnate’s striking all-red outfit, combining bodysuits, winter puffer jackets, turtlenecks, and various other pieces to emulate her stage attire. With red now surpassing “Barbie pink” as the dominant color in the fashion world for the fall-winter season of 2023, we can anticipate spotting several genuine variations in circulation.
Loewe, the designer behind Rihanna’s memorable Super Bowl jumpsuit, unveiled a limited batch for purchase on Thursday, priced at $2,900 and accessible both online and at specific stores. This timely release allows enthusiasts to embrace Super Bowl-themed Halloween ideas or get a head start on their holiday wardrobe. However, it’s worth noting that, as reported by People magazine, the Rihanna-red version sold out within just 24 hours, although a black alternative remains in stock.
Describing it as a “special edition” release, Loewe clarified in their social media posts: “The cargo jumpsuit and trousers incorporate various utilitarian elements inspired by flight gear and the dynamic stage design of the halftime show.”
According to the online product description, this jumpsuit is meticulously crafted from medium-weight cotton canvas, weighing in at over 2.5 lbs. It features detachable D-ring straps at the knees, an elasticized belt, and front zippered pockets. The exact quantity of jumpsuits sold remains unconfirmed, and given their rapid sellout, the possibility of a restock is uncertain.
Since her debut in the red utility suit during the Super Bowl, the founder of Fenty Beauty has had numerous noteworthy fashion moments throughout the year. A month after the Super Bowl, Rihanna graced the Oscars with her presence, dazzling the red carpet with three distinct looks: a mint green two-piece, a bedazzled sheer stage ensemble, and a leather gown, all elegantly accentuating her baby bump. In May, Rihanna and her partner A$AP Rocky made a stylish entrance at the Met Gala; she wore an oversized white cape adorned with white blossoms over a white gown, while he sported a plaid kilt over denim paired with a jacket.
It’s worth emphasizing that the red jumpsuit isn’t the sole custom creation by Loewe that has made headlines for Rihanna this year. Shortly after the Met Gala, Rihanna unveiled a specially tailored maternity ensemble designed by Loewe’s creative director, Jonathan Anderson. This distinctive outfit featured oversized two-tone faux fur, a fuzzy gray crop top, and an asymmetrical chocolate brown leather mini skirt.
When discussing the now-iconic Super Bowl attire with Vogue, Rihanna’s stylist, Jahleel Weaver, shared that concealing her growing baby bump presented the most challenging obstacle when finalizing her looks. “She didn’t reveal it to me until three weeks before [the Super Bowl]. She eventually disclosed it during our sketch review, and I was taken aback, thinking, ‘Is this a joke?'” Weaver recounted.
Weaver mentioned that he would advise the designers working on her outfits to “keep some flexibility” as a precaution. He couldn’t be certain whether she would choose to showcase her baby bump or conceal it during the performance. Weaver confided to Vogue that he felt moved as he witnessed the entire ensemble take shape.
“She’s completely fearless,” he remarked. “It’s truly remarkable that she’s always open to creating looks that are edgy and innovative. She doesn’t compromise her style for anyone.”
